My fiance and I are considering making the move to West Point from the Hampton Roads are. We're young professionals - he's a firefighter and I'm a floral designer - in our late twenties to early thirties. We're really looking to start our lives together in a small town setting. We're hoping to start a family in a safe community with good schools. Can anyone tell me what it's like growing up in West Point/ becoming a new member of the community?

I pass through WestPoint to get to Kilmarnock. If that papermill were gone, I'd move my family to WestPoint in a heart beat! The WestPoint smell is really bad and gave me headaches. Ate at a nice little Italian place across from the mill - good food but the smell was everywhere - thought I was chewing on chemicals. It'd be great if W.Point got back into shipbuilding like it did 90+ years ago. Or manufacturer something not so stinky. W.Point is a beautiful place otherwise. Amazing water

I'm looking forward to spending time in West Point as my daughter and family are moving there in July. I'd appreciate any comments of places to eat, sights to see, shopping areas, etc.

I graduated from West Point High School in the 1977. After spending 26 years in the Marine Corps I travel thru West Point often. I have a lot of good memories of some good times in the streets of West Point, and memories of a lot of good friends. It was a great place to grow up..

Hello West Point
I would like to make a comment about the front page article On March 10, 2010 on MacTavish Graham. This article is bogus. There are alot of facts missing. He did not commit this crime. Why wasnt the alleged victim's identity put in this article? Why didnt this article explain that there were more than 2 people involved? The real story will come to the light. Hopefully this case will be carefully investigated. It is not fair to print articles that are misleading, because it

I too grew up in West Point, and my Aunt Ruby Johnson and my mother Mildred Custalow was providing some of those wonderful crabs we all loved. I remember Toni's family as well (hello to you). Look forward to checking in on the site in the future!
